Frequently Asked Questions.
Where do I start?
Everyone starts getting their Private Pilot Certification. Within certain limits it allows you to fly basic aircraft wherever you want, whenever you want, for private use.
How long does it take?
The legal minimum for a private pilot certification is 40 hours of training but many students take upwards of 60 hours or more. This can be accomplished in just a few short weeks or a few years, depending on your motivation and schedule.
How expensive is it?
The expense depends on your level of commitment. The faster you progress, the less you forget in-between lessons, and the more you retain. If you progress slower, our instructors might have to spend more time with you to “knock the rust off” after periods of inactivity.
Is my child ready for training?
There is no minimum age to be a student pilot, but to “solo” or fly on your own while still a student, you must be at least 16 years old. The legal minimum age to get your certificate is 17 but that doesn’t mean you can’t start learning sooner.
What are the requirements?
You must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language, and be physically large enough to operate the controls to begin training. Soon after you start, you must also obtain a Medical Certificate.
In order to solo, you must also be at least 16 years old.
To get your license you must be at least 17 years old.
