Discovery Flight

Once you have decided that flying is for you, the next step is getting your Private Pilot’s license. This is similar to getting your drivers license, as it allows you to fly a wide-variety of aircraft for personal use, in clear weather, in day or night if you have received the proper training. Owning a pilot’s license offers numerous advantages that can enhance both personal and professional aspects of your life. Having a pilot’s license allows you to fly where you want, when you want. You can avoid long layovers, crowded airports and take direct routes to your destinations. This flexibility is especially beneficial for both business travel and leisure trips.

A Private Pilot’s license is also the first step in various aviation-related careers. Whether you’re interested in flying commercially, working as a flight instructor, or even pursuing opportunities in cargo transport, everyone starts at the same place. Piloting requires mastering a range of skills, including aircraft control, meteorology, radio communication, navigation, and even a little bit of law. The learning process is exciting and challenging and is achievable by anyone who is willing to put the time and effort into studying and practice.

Private Pilot Certificate

Ready to fly in the clouds?

An instrument rating significantly expands the abilities of a private pilot by allowing them to operate their aircraft in less than stellar weather conditions. While it does not provide authorization to fly directly into thunderstorms, it does effectively lift many of the restrictions that would otherwise limit flying in low visibility situations and through clouds. Although obtaining an instrument rating is not a formal requirement for achieving your commercial pilot certification, it is strongly recommended, as it further lifts restrictions and opens up many more opportunities for commercial operations in varied weather scenarios.
